Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
