The acclaimed British actress Helen Mirren, previously winner of an Oscar, several BAFTA honors, Globes trophies, five Emmys, and a Tony, is set to earn an additional esteemed prize to her shelf: the DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

Dame Helen, 80, previously given a damehood in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will receive the award during a presentation on 8 January, shortly before the main Golden Globes occur, during a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as the “Golden Eve”.

Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett award for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which remains unannounced. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a powerhouse performer, with a career is nothing short of remarkable,” stated the organization’s president, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft constantly motivate generations of artists and viewers as well. It’s a tremendous privilege to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Notable Roles

Helen Mirren became well-known in the 1970s through significant parts in stage productions in London’s theater district and with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her lead performance in detective drama Prime Suspect increased her popularity significantly. Additional notable movies feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her role as Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a part she returned to back in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan regarding the encounters between the queen and prime minister Thatcher, and for which Mirren won a Tony during 2015.

• More recent films include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
• Her performance in the streaming adaptation for The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews with award talk is building regarding her role as a terminally ill matriarch in Kate Winslet’s first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, audiences will see Mirren in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Globes nominations are set to be revealed December 8, featuring Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
