Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented known failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
