Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
